Equipping the Body of Christ
Through Biblical Truth, Theological Excellence, and the Power of the Holy Spirit
From New York to the nations, Shimba Theological Institute exists to serve and strengthen the global body of Christ.
Shimba Theological Institute was founded by Dr. Maxwell Shimba with a God-given vision to make sound, biblically grounded theological education accessible to those called to serve Jesus Christ. The Institute was established upon the conviction that ministers, pastors, Christian leaders, teachers, chaplains, and students need more than passion for ministry—they need a strong foundation in the Word of God, sound theology, spiritual maturity, and practical preparation for faithful service.
Based in New York, Shimba Theological Institute carries a global vision. Through accessible educational opportunities, online learning, theological coursework, and ministry-focused training, the Institute seeks to equip believers and Christian leaders wherever God has called them to serve.
Our educational mission is centered upon the authority of Holy Scripture and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We believe that theological education should not merely fill the mind with information but should transform the life, strengthen faith, deepen spiritual understanding, and prepare God's servants for effective ministry.
At Shimba Theological Institute, we pursue the integration of biblical scholarship, theological excellence, spiritual formation, and practical ministry. Our goal is to cultivate leaders who are capable of faithfully interpreting Scripture, articulating the Christian faith, addressing contemporary challenges, shepherding God's people, and proclaiming the Gospel with wisdom, conviction, humility, and love.
Built upon Christ and His Word.
The ultimate foundation of Shimba Theological Institute is Jesus Christ and the Word of God. We believe that authentic Christian education must remain faithful to Scripture while recognizing our continual dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not simply an element of our theological curriculum; He is central to our understanding of Christian life and ministry. We believe that the Holy Spirit illuminates Scripture, guides believers into truth, empowers ministry, produces spiritual transformation, and equips the Church to fulfill the Great Commission.
Therefore, our pursuit of academic excellence is inseparable from spiritual formation. We seek knowledge not merely for academic recognition, but so that knowledge may become wisdom, wisdom may produce faithful service, and faithful service may bring glory to God.
Leadership rooted in calling.
Under the vision and ministry leadership of Dr. Maxwell Shimba, Shimba Theological Institute seeks to contribute to the strengthening of Christian leadership throughout the world.
Dr. Shimba's vision is rooted in the belief that theological education should equip people to know Christ, understand His Word, defend the Christian faith, and faithfully serve His Church.
The Institute therefore seeks to provide an environment in which students can grow intellectually, spiritually, and practically while being prepared to fulfill their God-given calling.
From New York to the nations.
Although located in New York, Shimba Theological Institute has a vision that extends far beyond one city, state, or nation.
We exist to serve the global body of Christ by helping prepare men and women who are called to Christian ministry and leadership. Through accessible theological education and ministry training, we seek to reach students wherever God has placed them.
Our desire is to see pastors equipped to shepherd their congregations, teachers prepared to communicate biblical truth, chaplains strengthened for compassionate ministry, evangelists empowered to proclaim the Gospel, and Christian leaders prepared to serve their communities with integrity.
Scripture, surrender, and the Spirit.
We believe that faithful ministry begins with a mind shaped by Scripture, a heart surrendered to Christ, and a life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
For this reason, Shimba Theological Institute is committed to pursuing both academic excellence and spiritual formation. We believe the highest purpose of theological education is not simply to produce graduates, but to help develop faithful servants of God who will use their knowledge, gifts, and calling for the advancement of God's Kingdom.
What we are committed to.
Equipping God's people for ministry.
Shimba Theological Institute exists to equip God's people for the work of ministry and the building up of the Body of Christ.
Our prayer is that every student who passes through the Institute will leave not merely with greater knowledge, but with a deeper love for God, a stronger commitment to His Word, a clearer understanding of the Christian faith, and a renewed passion to serve Jesus Christ.
Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and through the vision and service of Dr. Maxwell Shimba, Shimba Theological Institute seeks to equip a generation of Christian leaders who will rightly handle the Word of God, faithfully proclaim the Gospel, defend the Christian faith, serve God's people, and advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ throughout the nations.
To God be the glory.
